MC Tha's Umbandafunk
MC Tha grew up in Cidade Tiradentes, East Zone of Sao Paulo, COHAB, known for containing the largest housing complex in Latin America. Tha has always been a listener of rap and forró, as her family is of Northeastern origin; however, it was in her teenage years that she started to listen to funk when the scene started in the capital of Sao Paulo.
In 2009, she started singing and releasing her songs.
MC Tha is a revelation in contemporary Brazilian music with 2 albums released and a few singles.
Her music connects traditional and contemporary at the same time, in her works MC Tha straddles the sacred and the profane. The artist presents a deep investigation and experience with Afro-Brazilian religions, mixing aesthetics and rhythms in an original present genuine way, through funk, drums and singing points.
With a fundamental base in funk, my guide is strong and strengthens the message of the connection between the rhythm and the Afro-religious beats, played in Candomblés, Umbandas, on the hills and the periphery (with emphasis on Congo de Ouro beat, Angolan rhythm), that resembles the vast Afro repertoire present in various popular expressions of resistance, such as Jongo.

MC Tha cresceu em Cidade Tiradentes, na Zona Leste de São Paulo, COHAB, conhecida por abrigar o maior complexo habitacional da América Latina. Tha sempre foi ouvinte de rap e forró, já que sua família é de origem nordestina; no entanto, foi na adolescência que ela começou a ouvir funk quando a cena começou na capital paulista.
Em 2009, ela começou a cantar e lançar suas músicas.
MC Tha é uma revelação na música brasileira contemporânea, com 2 álbuns lançados e alguns singles.
Sua música conecta o tradicional e o contemporâneo ao mesmo tempo; em suas obras, MC Tha transita entre o sagrado e o profano.
A artista apresenta uma investigação profunda e uma experiência com religiões afro-brasileiras, misturando estética e ritmos de maneira original e genuína, por meio de funk, tambores e pontos de canto.
Com uma base fundamental no funk, minha orientação é forte e reforça a mensagem da conexão entre o ritmo e os batuques afro-religiosos, tocados em Candomblés, Umbandas, nos morros e na periferia (com destaque para o ritmo Congo de Ouro, ritmo angolano), que se assemelha ao vasto repertório afro presente em várias expressões populares de resistência, como o Jongo.
