Y-Bayani & Baby Naa and The Band of Enlightenment, Reason & Love are the new Reggae sensation coming out of Ghana. Philophon’s label boss and producer Max Weissenfeldt discovered the two natural talents during one of his trips to Ghana, established The Band of Enlightenment, Reason and Love to back them up and released their debut Nsie Nsie (Philophon) in 2020. Nsie Nsie in its melodic and cinematic approach is a kind of retro-afro-futuristic take on the Reggae genre: Sometimes dark and deep, sometimes bright and happy, but always full of vibe, playful and tight. Singing synthesisers are interweaving with masterful horn arrangements, pumping bass lines locking in with mighty drums and all is crowned by the soulful vocals of our charming duo. Now it’s the time to bring the magic live on the stage. Y-Bayani & Baby Naa and The Band of Enlightenment, Reason & Love are a seven piece band made up of musicians out of the Kumasi’s vital music scene, the ancient city in the middle of the rain forest and epicentre of classic Highlife.
